Diverse support for poor children in India

Primavera Indien India Shree Ramchandra Graameena Vidya Vikaasa Trust, Bangalore

Shree Ramchandra Graameena Vidya Vikaasa Trust, Bangalore

Project location: Bangalore
Number of children supported: 255
Type of support: School
Period of support: Since 2014
Contact at primavera board: Christoph Kübel

The desire to help children in need prompted MC Venugopal to establish the "Shree Ramchandra Graameena Vidya Vikaasa Trust" in 1990. The aim is to improve the health and education of children from families below the poverty line. "I started teaching a few students in a small shed in the 8th phase of JP Nagar (area in Bangalore)" he recalls.

In the meantime, the small class in a shed has become a school for 255 pupils. Primavera has set up a computer laboratory as well as a medical camp. In addition, the daily distribution of nutritional drinks to all schoolchildren was started with the support of Primavera.

Despite the bitter poverty, the mostly shattered family circumstances due to e.g. alcoholism or violence towards children at home, the school succeeds in setting an antipole. Providing good education and a safe place to live often bears fruit in developing the children into independent personalities with a chance to break the cycle of poverty and take control of their lives.

The primary goal of the organization is to provide opportunities and facilities for hearing-impaired children to overcome the challenges of this disability and to integrate them into mainstream society. For the past 50 years, the organization has been making significant efforts towards this cause, creating essential facilities for hearing-impaired children. This has had a very positive impact on the lives of the students, shaping their future and integrating them into society.

Suhrud Mandal has a school in Pune on Bhandarkar Road, Chinchwad. In addition to formal education, the students receive training in sports, arts, and technical education, and they excel in competitive events.

The Primavera donation is used, for example, for the following:

a) Playground Equipment: Outdoor equipment has been helpful in making schooling more enjoyable for new entrants. Toys provide emotional, physical, and mental development for our young children.

b) Computer Lab: The computer lab in the school helps to impart computer education to hearing-impaired students. Access to the computer lab is also made available for students to study other school subjects. The computer lab has made their schooling joyful, and they are very happy to use it.

The Akshadhaa Foundation empowers children, especially those with disabilities, through education, training, and community support. The foundation offers specialized programs tailored to each child's needs and collaborates with other organizations to raise awareness and reduce stigma. The project benefits children, particularly those with disabilities, who receive essential life skills training through a mobile van service. Trainers bring necessary equipment directly to partner NGOs, homes, and government schools, making the training accessible and convenient. This approach aims to foster children's development and enhance their ability to thrive in everyday life.

The Akshadhaa Foundation organizes the project by deploying a mobile van equipped with essential tools and materials.

Trainers visit partner NGOs, homes, and government schools on designated days and times to work directly with the children. This setup allows for personalized training sessions at the children’s doorsteps, ensuring convenience and maximizing participation. The foundation coordinates with various stakeholders, schedules sessions, and prepares trainers to deliver life skills training effectively, all while minimizing the burden on parents and ensuring consistent, accessible support for the children involved.

The Akshadhaa Foundation uses funds to purchase teaching equipment, tech devices, and software, and to cover vehicle operations, including driver salaries and maintenance. Funds also support professional consultations, learning materials, and pre-vocational training resources. Additionally, the foundation allocates funds for student welfare activities, utility bills, housekeeping, and overall management costs.

Established in 2000, our mission is to ensure that underprivileged children living below the poverty line integrate into mainstream society. ACT provides comprehensive development focused on education, life skills, and creating employment opportunities suited to each child’s strengths.
