Type of support: Support the street kids education center & scholarship

Period of support: Since 2024

Sahabat Anak is a child protection foundation driven by volunteers who fight for children's rights, particularly those of marginalized children (on the street or vulnerable to being on the street). The foundation provides access to free education, scholarships, kindergarten/early childhood education, non-formal schools, libraries, healthy meals, health counseling and check-ups, as well as advocacy services.

The foundation began with the "Jambore Anak Jalanan" (JAJ), the first of which was held in 1997. A group of volunteers, including students, alumni, and professionals involved in the event's organizing committee, recognized a critical need among the urban children's generation, particularly street children in Jakarta: education as a means to improve their status, economy, and character towards a better phase of life.

To this day, Sahabat Anak organizes regular tutoring sessions for marginalized children in six urban areas of Jakarta: Grogol, Cijantung, Gambir, Manggarai, Tanah Abang, and Kota Tua. The foundation also runs two non-formal schools for street youth who have dropped out of school: the children’s activity center at central Jakarta.Additionally, Sahabat Anak has two early childhood education schools in Grogol and Cijantung where Primavera presents their support.

Since 2004, children who often loitered around Cijantung Mall and Pasar Rebo have shown a high interest in learning. The volunteers of Sahabat Anak responded promptly by organizing regular tutoring sessions in those areas. Now they are able to rent a house for tutoring activities, called "Rumah Kemala Hijau," and have established a childhood education schools at the same location.

Starting in 2024, Primavera will support Sahabat Anak with a donation of 2,500 euros in 2024 and 5,000 euros per year thereafter to provide access to proper education for street children, particularly at PKA Cijantung. This program impacts 74 children, including 12 who receive formal education scholarships. Bosch colleagues on-site are monitoring the progress of the project and participating as volunteers.
