MY Readers was founded in 2015 by four English Teachers with a mission to empower children, through communities by providing structured and sustainable reading programmes. The organization's primary goal is to address the literacy gap among children, especially those from under-resourced and marginalized backgrounds. MYReaders operates in both schools and community settings, offering tailored learning programs designed to foster literacy and knowledge growth.
The organization's work is made possible through a combination of private donations, corporate sponsorships, and partnerships with various organizations that share a commitment to educational equity and inclusion.
In 2024, Primavera began funding the "Juhuk Penanei" (Knowledge Tree) outreach effort, specifically targeting the Orang Asli. This project aims to overcome the significant barriers to inclusion faced by these indigenous communities.
The Juhuk Penanei initiative is a comprehensive program that offers English and Malay language modules, along with livelihood capability modules, to help students acquire both academic and practical skills.
Bosch Malaysia will also be involved in the project, contributing to community visits and other activities. The Juhuk Penanei project represents a significant step toward ensuring that even the most marginalized communities have access to quality education and the tools necessary for lifelong learning.
