Type of support: Schoolkits and presents for children with cancer
Period of support: Since 2024
The P.A.V.E.L. Association represents parents of children battling cancer, leukemia, and severe anemia. Founded in 1996 by parents whose children have faced these challenges, the association mobilizes social and institutional support to advocate for the rights of cancer patients. We promote social responsibility, community engagement, and empathetic individual or institutional actions.
In Romania, children and adolescents with oncological and hematological diseases undergo extended medical treatment. This can last for weeks, months, or even years, forcing them to live away from home and interrupt their education. The P.A.V.E.L. Association, in collaboration with social workers, psychologists, hospital teachers, and volunteers, has provided support to 500-600 children and young people annually.
This new initiative, "Hope Box," aims to provide essential support to children and adolescents battling cancer in the Romanian capital. The project, spearheaded by P.A.V.E.L. Association, seeks to alleviate the emotional and practical burdens faced by these young patients and their families.
The project will offer three types of kits to each beneficiary: a first admission kit (first hospital stay/beginning of medical therapy), a birthday/Christmas gift, and a school backpack. The kits will be tailored to the individual needs and preferences of each child, ensuring they have the necessary items for a comfortable and supportive hospital stay, a special gift to brighten their spirits, and the tools they need to continue their education.
Through its comprehensive approach, Hope Box seeks to make a significant impact on the lives of children with cancer in Bucharest. By providing essential support, fulfilling wishes, and promoting education, the project aims to improve the quality of life for these young patients and their families, offering hope for a brighter future.
